Navua FC chases Hekari trio for Fiji FACT

Defending Fiji FACT champions Navua are in talks with O League champions Hekari United for the release of three star players that guided the Papua New Guinea club to the Club World Cup after beating Waitakere United.

Strikers Kema Jack and Henry Fa’aarado along with midfield ace Alick Maemae have been eyed to join the southerners in their title defence of the first major tournament on the Fiji FA calendar.

Navua soccer boss Anil Sharma confirmed their interest in securing the trio but said negotiations were underway with Hekari and OFC officials.

“Yes, we are interested in the three players as they have shined for Hekari and proven their worth in the O League this year.”

“They are excellent finishers and have been scoring throughout the season and having them in the team will surely improve our goal-scoring ability.”

“I have been in constant touch with Hekari coaching staff and they are now negotiating with OFC with regards to the release of the players.”

“Though their club commitments have ended for the moment, they will be playing in the Club World Cup therefore certain issues need to be cleared with OFC and we are eagerly awaiting their clearance.”

Meanwhile Sharma has played down rumors that former national and Ba skipper Esala Masi will don the Navua jumper in the Fiji FACT.

According to him, they have not been in touch with the Australia based striker and are not looking at sorting his services at the moment.

Navua is in Pool 2 of the Vodafone Fiji FACT with BA, Rewa, Nasinu and Tavua and plays Nasinu in its opening match on May 23 at the tfl National Stadium.
