Beche-de-mer offence has no provision

The decision to by the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources to lay charges on the Haizhen Trading under the section 35 (2) of the Fisheries Act has raised confusion as the offences involves a banned product without a licence to harvest.
Former Fisheries deputy director George Boape explained that there is no relevant section of the Act that suits the offence.
"The offense has no actual provision in the Act that was why we have to refer to section 32 (2) which relates to proper records not supplied by the offender". He said that was reasonable and due to that limitation within the fisheries Act and Regulations, they are not able to identify any relevant section beside the provision being quoted to lay charges on the company.
He said further investigation will be carried out in relation to the issue of the seaweed and export of the bechedemer.
