A petition against the member of Parliament for Maringe-Kokota constituency claims he promised voters to vote for him in return for cash and property.
Dr Culwick Togamana lodged the petition against Varian Longamei Thursday last week, citing inducement by Mr Longamei's agents in the four wards of the consistency for their votes.
Dr Togamana who came second on the election results of the constituency claims Mr Longamei promised the voters on various dates from June to August to vote for him in return for solar equipment, food, cash and Out board motor engines.
He says these were collected after the people had cast their ballot papers.
Dr Togamana seeks the Court's order that Longamei's victory as declared by the Electoral Commission is void.
He also seeks the Court's order that Longamei had engaged in practices which breached the electoral laws.
