Fourteen international witnesses will testify at the trial of a man currently in custody for firearm charges in relation to an incident which involved a RAMSI PPF Advisor.
These witnesses were members of the Regional Assistance Mission to Solomon Islands mostly from Australia and Papua New Guinea ,who will give evidence in the case of John Irobeni Taloi.
Taloi is in custody for three counts of acts to resist arrest, going armed in Public, discharging a firearm in a public place, and possessing firearm without a license.
Apart from the fourteen international witnesses, four locals are also expected to take the witness stand.
They will testify on the incident which took place in May 2005, when Taloi allegedly pointed and fired a firearm at a RAMSI PPF Advisor and RAMSI Military Personnel.
Principal Magistrate Mekeo Gauli agreed to hold the trial at the Magistrate's Court after the defence counsel pointed out that it would be more convenient for the international witnesses.
The court has adjourned the case for further mention on October the 4th.
A trial date has been set for two weeks from November 25, 2010.
