The Director of Vois Blong Mere Solomons says it is important for women to nurture children to live in a culture of peace.
Josephine Teakeni was speaking during a talk back show on Sunday over the national broadcaster, as part of the government's efforts to commemorate and promote tomorrow's international day of peace in the country.
September 21 each is marked as the International Day of Peace, after its was officially declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2002.
The theme for this year's International Day of Peace is "Peace, Youth and Development" with the slogan "Peace equals Future".
Ms Teakeni says it is important that women are empowered with the right information in order to carry out their roles to make right decisions to bring up the country's generations in a culture of peace.
The Day's national activities which will be held at the SIBC grounds in Honiara tomorrow provides an opportunity for individuals and organisations to create practical acts of peace.
